How to Make Easy Curtain Panels

Well, one year after my last guess bedroom update, I’ve finally made another. I’ve only been holding onto the materials to do this oh for about…eight months maybe?
We added a bright and colorful duvet that is so us - expect that it clashed with the curtains and headboard. I decided to find a fabric and sew my own curtains!
Easy steps to make curtain panels!
I picked this white chevron material that goes with the duvet but doesn't clash.
Cut the fabric and lining to the desired length. I used the width that the fabric came (shown doubled in the picture below).
Match each curtain to a lining, laying together with the outside of the curtain facing inside (just like when making a pillow). Smooth out fabrics and pin.
Pinning tip: I found it helps to smooth the fabric as you pin to help avoid bunching when sewing. After each pin I would swipe my hand across the fabric just to make sure it was lying flat. I also found the sequence below to get the smoothest pinned curtain.
Sew around the perimeters of the fabric. Leave just enough unsewn on one side to be able to pull the curtain through. Trim any extra strings and extra fabric around the seams and corners. Pull fabric through and hand sew unfinished section.
Iron – this took forever!
These are the clips that I used to hang the curtains. I bought them at JoAnns.
Now these white curtains make the room open up!
These white bright curtains add so much light to the room!
I decided to make floor length plus a little curtains to make it a little more dramatic.
The curtains hung up in their rightful home! Gorgeous!

@Lynne Thank you! I was really concerned about finding curtains that didn't clash with the duvet. I was thrilled when I found this subtle pattern!
