DIY Faux Fireplace
I built this faux fireplace cabinet using mostly wood and supplies I had on hand. It turned out better than I imagined it would.
I started out by measuring the space and measuring the electric fireplace that was going in it.
I built the bottom frame using 1 x 4’s. I used wood glue and finish nails to build the frame.
For the top of the bottom piece I used plywood that was 1 inch thick. I used finish nails to attach it to the frame.
For the sides I used plywood and some scrap pieces of 2 x 2 and 2 x 4.
I used wood glue and finish nails to build the sides.
Once I got the sides done I fastened the cabinet to the wall and added the front piece with the cutout for the electric insert.
Next up…shiplap.
I added the shiplap using finish nails.
Once the shiplap was installed on the front and sides I added some 1 x 3’s on the front and top.
I painted the whole thing in antique white.
For the top I used 1 x 8 and fastened 1 x 6 on the bottom and sides of the top. .
I love how it turned it.
