We have a issue with our gas fireplace. In the winter the cold air rushes in making it so cold. And we don't want to always have the fireplace on. Then in the summer, hot air blows in.
I have tried body pillows, draft stops and nothing helps. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and make something to fix the problem myself!
All I used was some plywood, fabric, and staples!
I took a piece of plywood and cut it to fit the opening of the fireplace. I want it to really fit well so no air sneaks through.
This is what it looks like when I move it away from the fireplace, it really fits well!
Then I covered it with batting then fabric. Then I pulled the fabric tightly and stapled the corners.
Using staples I attached it all to the wood. Fabric and batting.
Then put into place. And ta dah, no more air comes through. Our bills have decreased. And it looks amazing. Easy to take away when we do want to use the fireplace. Easy enough solution to a big problem!
Finished product and how it looks in place.
