It’s been a bit since I’ve posted any projects, but no fear I’ve done hundreds of them, I just quit posting here.

this is a makeover of a electric logs fireplace I’ve redone twice now. First thing I did was replace the logs with a dancing fire unit. ($99 on eBay. Price today on the electric flames is $350). 1st photo is after replacing the logs.

New dancing flames electric unit

Replaced the old logs. Lived with this for a yr or so.

Added a shelf. Yes My floor in that corner is unlevel.

One day I started changing my decor, so the fireplace got painted, then sealed, and glazed. Added trim around the thin mantle to make it look thicker then the 1/2” it was.

Molding ready to glad. Manual trim added.

Glazed and sealed.

Added rope trim and painted, sealed and glazed.

Glazed and raised up the fireplace onto a higher Base. Also built another bookcase for the other side.

Slate stone added. These are peel and stick . I found on amazon and they ran about $185.

Stone finished and base painted. It remained like this for about 5 months. I just wasn’t happy with the slate color of the stone. It didn’t really match anything in the room but I was limited on color choices.

Was at Lowe’s and found the same type of stone in packages of 4 tiles for $49. In many more colors. This natural copper looks so much better. I also took the time to build out the base bigger. (My cat Thanks me and lays on it all the time). I also added stone to base. I redid the pieces between the fireplace and shelves to hide the wires.

Closeup of stone going on.

Base built out.

Laying out the stone.

Glued down tape holding pieces together till everything dries.

My hands are starting to hurt by now so I took a break for the rest of the day. It is real stone.

It’s finished! Yes it’s Christmas time when I decided to redo it in the copper stone.

Reminder of what I started with.

And the finished project.
