Too much info from Cheryl. Confusing.

Two ways.

You can use 1X2 firing strips and screw them to the mortar joints with Tapcon screws and nail/screw the wood to the firing strips. Nothing will screw into brick.

If the surface is considerably flat you can use Construction adhesive and glue them on. I suggest Locktite power grab.

First off why would you want to do That? Wood is probably the worst material there is. I framed around mine then I put sheet rock on the frame but it wasn't just a flat service it was like a picture frame only ultra modern the center we put pictures or any kind of decor that pleases us we change it once in a while so it dosen' t get boring. I have also in the the basement just removed all the brick and just walled the hole off can't tell it was ever there.
