How do I "dress up" a fireplace with no mantel

How about a soundbar on the bottom and then do a deep frame in black around the other 3 sides of tv so it sets 'into' the frame? The color on the walls and window coverings look very dated and don't make the fireplace/tv pop!

Your TV is higher than your windows....Is it comfortable for viewing? Soundbar would be a good idea OR how about painting the mantle white like the fireplace?

Garland, ribbon, leaves, something like that around the edges. You could attach small photos to the front. Put a vinyl phrase on it like your family name est. #### (year you married) or something along those lines.

You might want to bring some color down onto the fireplace and tie it in to the mantle.

I was thinking about framing with a garland. You can buy long ivy garlands or berry garlands at craft stores. I framed my large picture window with ivy garland. Adds a nice touch.

At the bottom of the fireplace, you could put artificial pine or Juniper in pots & run Christmas (mini) lights through the as long as they are tall, then run a lighted garland around the TV and windows. You don't have to turn the lights while viewing TV.

I see if you think the mantle looks small to the TV it needs to be enlarged. if you want a modern style keep it minimum if you want it tradisional add moldings. And adding the cabinets to the side looks like your brick but adding a larger piece of wood would add. I love the glass art you have it looks so nice too! Hope it helps Teresa

So, the wood at the top and bottom are still there? What’s that white part between the top wood and tv? Maybe paint that black to match the TV, or set a plank that matches the wood across it. With the same wood build shelves on both side of fireplace. Or even try that wood plank wall on that entire wall. Or hang long drapesfloor to ceiling, narrow drapes in the corners next to the fireplace? More just for decor purposes. Maybe to make those wood boxes framing TV , make an interesting design in pencil then nail in furniture tacks, to give it a little panache.

Hi Kelly!! Upon really looking at this, I think this may be an updated look for your living room and solve your problem. 1st,I would PAINT the WHOLE wall behind the TV, using it as scent wall- INCLUDING THE WINDOW CASEMENTS! Not a trim color as we want them to disappear. I'd also put same color curtains using tension rods on the inside of your windows- again to disappear. NOW, with rustic and/or industrial decor being en vogue, cut a LONG wooden, "Mantle" the correct thickness to fill in this space- EXTENDING IT OUT EVENLY ON EACH SIDE TO CREATE A "FLOATING" SHELF ON BOTH SIDES! Then using the SAME WOOD cut as many pieces needed below for more floating shelves on each side. This will not only become a focal wall to display artwork, books etc.. it will also eliminate the use of the too small shelving units you currently have. Also- placing, "task lighting" bars under the extended mantle, ( or other shelves as well), which are battery powered and inexpensive. This will add ambience and balance the light of the TV!! I HOPE THIS HELPS AND IF YOU DO USE IT, - PLEASE POST IT!! All you're out is a gallon of paint, scrap material for curtains/$ store tension rods, and some wood!! If you can't find, "reclaimed", just use your measurements and go to LOWE'S- THEN TAKE YOUR FRUSTRATION OUT ON IT! HAMMER IT, BEAT WITH A LARGE CHAIN, ETC.. THEN STAIN IT!! Sorry Kelly, but upon reviewing my answer I didn't include that putting the floating shelves across the WINDOWS will also balance turning it into a cohesive focal WALL!! THIS WILL MAKE THE TV NOT SO INTRUSIVE! I'm a fan of color but, in your case, (with the huge TV in mind!), I'd definitely paint the walls at LEAST a medium rich charcoal gray with cool undertones to balance out the warmth of the wood. THEN, PAINT YOUR FIREPLACE A SHADE LIGHTER TO EMPHASIZE THE TEXTURE OF THE BRICK!! PLUS IT WILL TAKE AWAY ALL THE ATTENTION BEING ON THE TV!! I REALLY DO HOPE THIS HELPS!! 😊 P.
