My gas wall heater is soooo ugly. I would like to do something to make it look more like a fireplace and remain functional as it is the only heat in that space
Craftsman style usually involves some sort of wood. Maybe more like this picture
Another thought is I associate craftsman with built-ins. What about book cases on both sides?
I would build a wood type box to cover the sides and top and stain it to what ever color you want. As far as the brick on the front you won't be able to cover it because of heat conditions. The front brick I would paint in a color complimentary to the stained wood. Be sure you get paint that can go on brick fireplaces
German shmear on the brick, and a raw edge wood mantel.
I agree with Karen, a German Smear and wood mantel. Or just white washing the brick with the book case idea would look great.
I'd paint it. Prime first because it will suck up the paint. Than I'd get a fireplace screen and add staggering candles on both sides of it. On top of fireplace I'd add a doilies accross can get from dollar store than add some wooden pic frames. Best of luck.
definitely build cabinets on each side, build mantel with posts on each side and across. Classic Craftsman. I like the brick, i'd leave it. Beatiful fireplace. People will be wanting these again in 10 years anyway.
