DIY Keyboard Stand Skirt

The first thing you see when you walk into our home is my beloved keyboard. The only place I could find to put it was in our front sitting room, and the wall it's on faces our entry. After a couple of years of looking at the keyboard's unsightly, bare stand, I knew I had to do something to make it prettier!
I decided to sew a fitted skirt that covered the keyboard stand. I had seen something like it over an entertainment console, and I thought it would be a great solution for my keyboard stand.
Here's what the keyboard looked like before.
Here is what it looks like now. Isn't it so much prettier?
I used thick cotton fabric and black grosgrain ribbon to make this simple keyboard stand cover. It's made from a variety of sizes of hemmed rectangles, and it attaches to the bottom of my keyboard with some tacks. You could also make a plywood base to sit atop a keyboard stand, and drape this skirt over that.
I think it adds so much more elegance to this little corner - here's the keyboard corner dressed up for Fall! For more details on how I made the keyboard stand fitted skirt, please visit my blog post.
