DIY Marble Side Table Makeover

Have you ever looked for a piece of furniture or a decor item, but couldn’t find one in the color or finish that you wanted?

A hack I have been doing for years is to find what I like on clearance and refinish it myself.

I have been looking for a small marble side table in a rose gold/copper finish with a bottoms shelf but was never able to find what I wanted.

This little table went on clearance at Wayfair, so I bought it and refinished it myself.

You can use my simple 3 step tutorial to refinish a side table!

It came in a matte black, but I wanted a rose gold/copper finish.

Materials

You Will Need:

  • Aluminum foil
  • Painters tape
  • Spray paint

1. Tape the edges of the table top.

The painters tape is great for pressing along the edges of the table. Consider using a kitchen knife to push it under the table top between the metal and the stone ledge.

2. Cover the top with aluminum foil.

Aluminum foil is my spray painting hack.

I use this all of the time when refinishing or spray painting because it can be easily molded to any shape.

Mold it to the shape and then simply tape around the edges so the paint doesn’t get sprayed underneath.

3. Spray Paint

From approximately 12 inches away, spray in a sweeping motion.

Keep the coats thin and layer as needed once dry for an even finish.

Lol, when I saw the introduction image, I thought we were in for a painting project. The old ladder, the floor, and what I mistakenly thought was a drop cloth. I’m soo sorry. I guess I don’t understand making vintage stuff. However when I saw what you did with the side table?’ Now we’re talking my language! Hehe 😜. It’s so awfully cute. And yes, I myself have often bought things only to spray paint the metal parts. Thanks for posting!
