How to Style a Day Bed Like a Sofa!

A lot of people have day beds. They are excellent for when guests come over and they work well in offices, guest rooms and, in our case, our basement playroom. But more often than not, a day bed isn't being used as a bed... but it's being used as a SOFA or lounging area. So today, I'm going to show you how I've styled our basement day bed to function more like a sofa. There's a video in this post too if you'd like to watch and subscribe to my YouTube channel!
First things first, I like to start with the 'bed' base. I use a plain colored bottom sheet (mine is light blue) and I add in a comfy bed pillow in one of the corners. In this case, it's the corner facing our television ;)
Then, you'll want to build out that base with texture. I've added a small faux fur throw on one end, a darker faux fur pillow on the other. They are anchored by large solid color feather down toss cushions that match the room. And finally more texture with a solid colour warm throw blanket.
The last couple steps are when you get to punch up the fun and style by adding in pattern and whimsy. I've used large floral toss cushions and a fun 'hip hop' bolster to achieve that. You can see what else I added as finishing touches in my video!
