I'm the first to say - sometimes doing a DIY project can be a bit scary. Since this is our first home, I'm also super hesitant to just put holes in walls, too. While my hubby paid someone to mount a TV in our bedroom, I decided it was simple enough for me to attempt to tackle in one of our other rooms. Don't fear, be brave and mount that TV!

This is the messy before picture! We had re-arranged the bed to be a better fit within the room. I also wanted a tv mounted in the corner to make it easier for our guests to relax.

I purchased a kit from the local Walmart for the correct size. This one also gave me the flexibility to swivel in any direction - something you'll want to have if mounting in the corner like I was.

The kit also gave some great directions as to how to put the mounting bracket onto the TV. They had a graph which converted metrics into imperial measurements (centimeters into inches).

With that done, now came the scary part - putting the bracket onto the wall!

When doing a corner mount, you need to consider the diagonal fit of the TV and the height (how far down from the ceiling you want to mount it).

I knew I needed to be roughly 12 to 18 inches away from the corner. For this 32 inch TV, the sweet spot was around 16 inches. I also came down roughly 12 inches from the top of the ceiling.

I held up the bracket a couple of times, double checking myself then came the moment of truth! I used a stud finder to confirm I was going into wood (critical for mounting a TV), some painter's tape (to not destroy the texture wall) and my cordless drill - to pre-drill a hole for the bolts to go into. I predrilled and set the first bolt.

Now here is a step many do not think of doing. Once that lower bolt is in, take the time to ensure the mount is level both on the horizontal and vertical plains.

Then lock it down!

Pick up your TV, put it on the mount. Screw in the locking screws and you're basically done!

I also added this shelf since we have a small cable box to work the TV. Very inexpensive and it saved me a lot of trouble.

All done! Now I need to either make a cord hider or install something to disguise it. Yes, the cable box is missing, but the shelf is up there and ready to be used.

That came out pretty good! Being nervous about putting holes in the wall was a good thing because I took my time to double check each step before doing it. More importantly, I got the TV off the dresser and our guest can lounge more comfortable.
