How do I determine the age, maker, and worth of my old cedar chest?
I refinished this cedar chest 35 years ago. It seemed pretty old when I got it based on the numerous layers of paint on it. Now it’s time to sell it. Any suggestions on age, maker and worth? If not, can you suggest where I could find the answers? T IA.

Take some pics and do some homework by looking for stamps and/or other identifying marks. Take that info to a local antique store. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.
You have a maker's mark on the bottom, look for other clues as of who manufactured this chest, sometimes the hardware on it tells you, look carefully.

This is a waterfall cedar chest. They were made from the 1920s through the 1940s. Value depends on condition, so you may want to consult an antique dealer/appraiser.
Hello. Google up Lane waterfall cedar chest and see if this closely matches your furniture’s description. There’s photographs of them all over Pinterest. There could be more information there.
Depending on the maker, Ebay listings $300 to $700. Auction houses start at about $325 and sell upwards of $500 to $800.
Coolfurniturelady is correct. My Lane cedar chest, purchased new in the mid1970's, is marked inside the lid.
Good luck finding the information and selling it at a good price, it is a beautiful piece of furniture!
I took Coolfurniturelady’s advice and asked the folks who are storing it for me to look inside the lid. There is a plate that says ‘Cavalier’. Now I’m doing more research. Thanks everyone!
Do the stamped numbers on the bottom indicate that the chest was manufactured Sept 29, 1946?
look inside or on the bottom for the manufacter name and look them up by that sometimes you will even find a model number we have no way of knowing the value and date of furniture pieces
You could check diffrent sites like ebay and Amazon and estysee what it sells for you could get a idea of the value then look at condition of yours so evaluate price compared to yours

I’d either bring the chest or a thorough collection of photos to an appraiser for their opinion. Refinishing it will likely have decreased the value.
