Why a sectional? Usually I use 2 same sized sofa, but different fabric back to back with a simple sofa table between then and set up two different seating areas. Works great in an open floor plan.

Decorate so one is your main focal point and the other secondary. If one is a window and one a fireplace, you can rearrange the furniture in the winter to make the fireplace the main focal point. Windows are many times not used as a main focal point. If the room is large enough, you can have two seating areas and two couches or a love seat rather than a sectional.

  • Hi Tammy,

What are the two focal points you are working with? Do you have a picture of the room you can post?
