Add some castor wheels to easily customise a piece of furniture and add some extra character at the same time!

Last year I refinished this table for our hallway and decided to live with it a while to check that I loved the finish.

I decided I wanted to add a little height to the table and customise it by adding some castor wheels.

I found these antique gold castor wheels on Amazon which were just what I had in mind.

They were very affordable but have a classic antique look. A tip to save extra money- I selected the used option when I purchased these which just meant they were in new condition but would come inside a damaged box. The box wasn’t even damaged and this saved me another £3 off the price!

The bottom of the legs already had a hole and we took a drill to make it the correct size to fit the castors.

It took seconds to drill the holes into the legs.

Once the hole was made there was a metal piece to insert which was hammered in easily.

The castor wheel slotted into the metal attachment easily and they were so quick and easy to fit.

The finished look! I love the height that the wheels add and I do love the extra character. I feel like this detail finishes off the look perfectly.

The wheels are the perfect antique gold colour and I love the details of the on/off brake.

I do wonder if I should have purchased a slightly smaller castor which might have worked better with the size of the legs on this piece.

I’ll live with it for a bit for now and see if I get used to it and love it. I’m sure this would be reversible if I don’t get used to the change. I do love how quick and easy these are to add to furniture though and they add so much character and make a statement.

In general I LOVE this piece in our entryway and it makes this space so cozy. To see more of this and behind the scenes follow along on Instagram!

Great idea! But, be careful that the legs don't split. Be careful when rolling it around. I had a wood cart that had old casters in similar sized legs and one split when hitting a small bump.
