Rustic Western Coffee Table
My husband found this ugly oval shaped coffee table and kept it (Don't know why) and I decided to turn it into a better looking one for our country house.
I don't have pictures of how it looked originally and of the ugly oval top which wasn't real wood, so I threw that away. But here is the bottom frame and legs which are real wood and I sanded it enough so that I could repaint it.
I first painted the entire thing with a dark teal color and then using a chip brush, I softly dry brushed some turquoise acrylic paint.
The idea was to make it match with this other piece I did which is also going to the country house.
After I brushed the turquoise, I proceeded to brush on some dark brown on the edges.
By doing this, it gives the illusion that the paint has faded/chipped/rubbed off as if from many years.
I was pleased with the results. Now all I needed was the top.
Looking around in our garage/woodshop/junk room, I found the perfect piece which used to be the top of a bar. So, my husband and I, marked, cut, sanded, installed and added a new coat of stain and varnish. Done...
Now, I can take it to the ranch and enjoy a coffee table. (The previous picture looks darker and greener because I took it inside and this one I took outside).

Have a question about this project?
Love it. A very tall coffee table though. More the height of an end table?
