Spray Painting Vinyl Cushions

I'm so excited to share this simple but transformative makeover I did on some ugly, brown vinyl cushions. I have already shared the first part of this makeover with how I refinished the love seat (http://www.hometalk.com/diy/living-room/furniture/how-to-refinish-a-cargo-love-seat-1898897) but it just made the ugly cushions more pronounced. I had originally thought to recover them, but once I got them they were in too good of shape to just recover. Instead, I picked up Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric spray paint (found in an automotive store near you). After a few coats later I had brand new looking cushions!

The first coat looks scary and like it won't ever cover the entire cushion...it will.

I used white Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric spray paint.

Fully coated! It does work!

I have yucky mesh patio cushions do you think they can be painted? I'm concerned about them being so porous?

  Megan it seemed so easy I wonder what the alternative is to it in the UK as in products. I have a super.kitchen renovation coming up budget $1500 !! Good idea.to bring in hope you can check in xx

I cannot thank you enough for this. Our golf cart back seat looks awful with the vinyl starting to chip off. The front seat and backs are perfect. Now we can use your idea and finally love our golf cart again.

  @Megan Aubrey Do you think two cans will do one golf cart seat? That would be seat and backs. The backs are divided into two smaller cushions.

  @Trish Davenport Hmm, I'm not sure. It goes on pretty thin. But probably...? It took quite a few for my big cushions. Start with two or buy more and return that you don't use.
