The Entry Way Piece of Your Dreams
I got this huge console or buffet from a friend of mine for free. They inherited it but it wasn't their style, so they were happy I could take it off of their hands.
It was a solid piece but it wasn't really my style either....I want to make it a bit more modern and sell it.
The furniture was in good condition but the top had water marks and some chipping varnish.
I knew I wanted to paint this piece so I scuff sanded the whole piece by hand. 220 grit.
Of course I cleaned it before all of that.
I primed the whole piece so the paint can better adhere to the surface. I use a roller to apply primer and paint. But if you have the space for it I definitely would recommend spraying the surface, so you get a more professional looking, smoother finish.
Here it is! Rolling on the paint over the primer! I used valspar furniture and cabinet paint as well the roller below to achieve a smooth surface.
I wanted to keep the gold embellishments so I used rub and buff to go over it after everything was painted
I used the color antique gold.
Here is how it looked afterwards! I used sherwin William's 2021 color of the year: Urbane bronze
It gives this buffet a modern yet traditional look.
