We transformed this cabinet from rustic to modern to suit our clients new home!
Before photo
Our plan is to refinish to match their existing furniture and add a new backing with a hole lower hole so that the cords do not show.
We removed the doors, backing and shelves.
Time to prep the surface before painting... Our favorite cleaner is Saman TSP Eco. It's a rinse free formula and eco friendly- AND smells great!
I added one cap full to a bucket of warm water... and scrub the surface with these 300 grit sanding pads. The sanding pads etch the surface allowing the paint to properly adhere.
Once dry time to fill the holes using Saman Wood Filler! This stuff is amazing - it's like applying butter on bread it's so creamy!
Once the filler is dry I gave the surface a light sand.
We used Superior Paint Co. Ivory chalk furniture paint (2 coats) using the Earlex Sprayport HVLP Spray machine and sealed using Saman Satin Varnish (2 coats on the body and 3 coats on the top).
We let the piece cure for a week in our shop before it was ready to head back to our clients home.
We recommend letting the paint and varnish cure for a month before it's safe to put heavy treasures on top.
