These nightstands started off just like most old furniture. The old black finish was scratched and worn. But those chunky turned legs were drawing me in to the farmhouse feel. You can easily recreate this look on any furniture, and not just on the tops. The weathered wood painted finish looks amazing on entire pieces of furniture. Here's how to recreate the weathered wood painted effect.

This is what they looked like before. Just plain ole black nightstands.

First I painted them white with our paint sprayer. It makes painting details SO. MUCH. EASIER. Especially when you are painting at least coats to get full coverage of white over a dark finish.

Then we layered a few different shades of grey and black to create a faux weathered look.

After the paint was dry I stained the layered paint and let the stain dry completely.

At that point the look was too dark for my liking, so I whitewashed over the stain.

When the whitewash was dry, it was a little too light for my liking, so I gave it a coat of brown glaze.

It was finally perfect!! You can see the different layers really built onto one another and created a dimensional weathered wood look.

What says farmhouse more than some white end tables and weathered wood??
