My bedroom does not have a ceiling light (cheap builder!), so I have buffet lamps (my bed is tall), on my nightstands. I also have a high watt (or LED equivalent), lamp on one of my dressers. That's it. I have a larger watt bulb on my side of the bed as I read in bed a lot! The master bath adjoins and has good lighting if I happen to need it. Hope this helps.
We have ceiling fan with light and a lamp on each bedside table. That is sufficient.
