How do I get Under cabinet lights?

  • Go to a store and buy them. Hardware, home improvement centers, lighting stores all carry different styles. Or you can shop on line. Depending on where and how many outlets you have, you might need an electrician to install one or two more for you.

You can buy battery operated under the cabinet lights as well as under the cabinet lights that need to be hardwired in. Home Depot, Menards, Lowes are three places you will find them.

I have small flourescents hard wired under my cabinets. I purchased from Home Depot and my husband installed them by wiring into the electrical outlets near each one.

I suggest you splurge and have an electrician wire under the counter lights for you with a switch and perhaps a dimmer as well. I have used the push lights (with batteries) two different times and they do not provide adequate light and it is a paint to change the batteries. Do it right the first time and save yourself a lot of frustration. They can be very functional and an accent at night when properly installed. There are the pot lights as well as rope versions of low output lighting that can be installed beneath or above cabinets. Lots of options.
