I usually plug in a night light that is solar! It seems to work for me and cheaper!

How about a battery powered stick on motion activated light which will sense when you approach and go off when you leave...not expensive

Get an oversized picture frame from the thrift store. If you like the color, keep the color but if not, just paint it whatever color you like. Turn the picture frame over & using some little eye hooks, run some LED cord lights just behind the perimeter of the frame. Insert a pretty picture, a piece of fabric or a diy theme inside the frame & fasten it in either using pins or duct tape. Run a hanger wire, string, cord, yarn, etc from one side center to the other side center on the back. Hold the frame up to the wall & find your nail (screw) position you're gonna place into the wall for hanging. Some lights you will find battery operated & some plug into the wall.

If you EVER decide to do your roof over add tubes thru the roof a couple in your hall way and you think lights are on even at night. Our daughters house has in their bathroom and everyone is always asking how to turn the lights off :)

We added the light tubes without doing the roof over just added them to the existing roof.
