You can create 2 sitting areas. 1 at the fireplace and another facing away from it.

    Hi Martha,

It depends on the size of your room. I have a fireplace in my LR, but not enough room for 2 sitting areas. I put my sofa and side tables, against the wall on one side, then at the end, a lounge style care (think Lazy-boy) on each side of the room, facing the fireplace. The TV is in the corner next to the fireplace. The other wall is windows. I've moved the furniture around several times over the years I've lived here, but this works the best for me. If you can use graph paper or find a place online to plop in furniture in your dimensions, you could try that without moving the furniture. Maybe another Hometalk member will find a link for that. Wishing you the best.

we have a long living room in our new house with a fireplace wall (electric) so we purchased a second couch because we had a big round chair and it stuck out to far and now it is perfect!
