How can I make my living room look nice?

I have a small living room and walls are white and furniture is gray and curtains what can I do to make it look nice but not expensive

Pillows and a colorful area rug might help to brighten the space.
You need to add some color and brightness to bring life into a drab space. Some brightly colored throw pillows and quilt, pictures and a mirror on the walls, area rug for the floor, etc.
Add a pop of color - red, turquoise, yellow - whatever you feel comfortable with. Add a plant. Hang a colorful picture on the wall, then pull throw pillow colors from that. Add an area rug. Put something personal in the room to make it say it's yours. Have fun with it. Go slow, as each thing you do the room will change it's look.
Paint 12" wide light to med gray stripes. And yes as above add some accent color and a plant or two.
If you can, paint one wall a bright color. Paint the ceiling a lighter color than the walls. But the colorful pillows sound great.
