I have a tiny living room in my 1 bed room apartment. I have a recliner and 3 bar stools. But i need additional comfortable seating for visiting friends that doesn't take up a ton of room when they are not there. I could get rid of the recliner.

Have you considered getting a glider? You can often pick one up for $30 or less at garage sales and second hand shops. They are as common in second hand shops and garage sales as are exercise machines! They do not take up much room. If you are not happy with the back and seat pads, they are easily replaced. You can use or not use/buy or not buy the foot stool that would take up more room. Many come without the arm pads. It is your choice. Here is one example of a glider with ottoman

A chair with an ottoman, would give you seating like a recliner. When you have guests, the ottoman can serve as a seat. Folding chairs are a good option. A hope chest used as a coffee table, can be moved for seating as well.
