How can i make a bedroom out of a living/dining room area 250 feet?

3 of us in a 550 square foot apartment--i need to make a semi private area for a bedroom in the living/dining room area?

Bed in the farthest end of the room and a standing screen? Or hang a curtain to separate? Could you add a wall there without ruining the ceiling? Or how about several tall book cases as divider/ storage? Paint the backs a color to go with whichever room they face. Could even alternate the way they face to give storage to both sides.
