Hello,
More info is needed...what kind of room is it you need and what is it to be used for? Can you post a picture?
Generally speaking, remove all clutter and organize.

After decluttering, go up. Shelves on the wall take advantage of often unused space. An organizer system will make the most of small closets. Baskets and bins are a great way to round up toys and make the room neater.
Smaller areas can become quite functional if you invest in verticallshelving to contain and store items and still have a neat looking room. Even plastic shelving units will help you in organizing. Cover appropriate size boxes that fit onto the shelving. You can also cut down cardboard boxes shallow enough to fit beneath the beds to store items, it's all a matter of making a plan and then following through. Get your children involved in the process of deciding where their items are stored. The projet can actually be fun and rewarding. You all can do it!

It would depend on how you are utilizing the space. Bookcases and shelves are great for using space that is otherwise not used. If you have a bed or other furniture, don't forget to store items under them. Add mirror and lighting to give an appearance of a larger space so that it doesn't feel crowded.
How small of a space are we talking about? Do you have lots of furniture or clutter in the area? If you post a photo we can help better.
Always the challenge, right? Ideally keep items to a minimum in the space, go for furniture that serves multiple purposes, and make use of your walls vertically for storage or display. Editing the space to maximize it is the key.

To make the limited floor space in a small house more efficient, set a goal to get as much stuff off the floor as possible. This can be accomplished by putting the wall and ceiling space to better use.
Here are some examples:
-Mount shelves and storage units on the wall , instead of sitting on the floor
-Bunk, or loft beds, with under storage, instead of traditional floor beds.
-Toy storage hanging from the ceiling in nets
-Ceiling mounted clothes hanging or laundry drying racks.
Putting often empty space in between the wall studs by recessing shelves and drawers is a floor-space-saving method of making a small house seem roomier.
Here are some examples.
It's all about using every extra inch for storage! think about storing items under your couch, get small storage units like this: https://amzn.to/3t5zuus. Or storage even under the washer or dryer! https://amzn.to/3mZQcaM
