Living room arrangement? Focal points?
so from where the photo is taken is the entrance. I’m getting a couch and my issue is With focal point. There’s so many in one area. Initially I thought to put the tv over the fireplace but I don’t like the idea of walking in and seeing the back of the sofa. Any suggestions? Tv on the left couches on the right?
update thank you guys for the input. I didn’t realize the picture posted sideways but the white part is a glass door with a sliding curtain leading to the patio.

To pull focus off that wall you see when you first walk in, choose the wall to the left with a nice bold color, artwork and textural items or maybe a big mirror to bounce light around the room.
Fireplace is too offset for the TV above it. I would go with TV on the left and couch on the right. Cocktail table by the couch. Two upholstered chairs as you walk in separated by an end table. A picture, clock or mirror over the fireplace.
I like a fireplace as a focal point. I would put the couch on the left wall and the TV across from it on the right wall. You can enjoy the fireplace and the TV from the couch.
Well, my idea is probably the most the aggressive idea, so sorry, I would get rid of the fireplace and drywall it in, unless you can knock out the wall to the right to give you more area for the fireplace to be centered. Then put the TV over top of the fireplace. That way you could have the fireplace as a focal point. Then arrange furniture accordingly.
You could put the couch on the left wall and the tv on right wall then on wall next to fireplace put 3 floating shelfs in wood that would look fabulous, you could even paint that wall a accent color
I very frequently have floated my sofa in the living room using a sofa table behind it.... give you an area to provide a place to put your drink and also create an entryway into the room..... https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=AOaemvIn48b2u71t_3BJSY7BFTCZnwu91A:1642641968085&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=picture+of+sofa+floated+in+the+room+with+a+sofa+table&client=opera&fir=ADskEZBTJQSQfM%252CuJsB9ReNHbOyUM%252C_%253B88Y4luxhoMWG9M%252C6xClrkTKaZhi7M%252C_%253Bl3Ni1IS9xS61NM%252C6xClrkTKaZhi7M%252C_%253Bcpknmwejd78kHM%252CPddZMgtfwEeu_M%252C_%253BEXEWj1XUu_fo3M%252C-6XZiZjK4ARb4M%252C_%253BdWRm-wLKba59-M%252C9OUzrA3YkcRaVM%252C_%253BeAPprNK0jHDOaM%252CWAZV1jD6kv6u1M%252C_%253BvwTRtnMOKBI0rM%252Cl68oAmB0RMmaEM%252C_%253BF77_KTdSTq2QaM%252C51KqIfeRz0t0qM%252C_%253BnZ_3YhgNKCVb1M%252C68JgqUVQk-Fc2M%252C_&usg=AI4_-kR4yKLkFvCCjgqWMP_ebARoQk7Jjg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjsk4CYlr_1AhWwHDQIHdmKBwIQjJkEegQIAhAC&biw=1326&bih=619&dpr=1
Right now I have a long chest of drawers behind my sofa where I store my good china, and crystal. My sofa table is on the opposite wall from it with the TV setting on it. A long low bookcase also works, and IKEA has a bunch.
How wide is the couch that you will be getting? How wide is the room?
Put the couch on the left wall. Get a huge painting from Kirklands or Home Goods. Put the TV on the opposite wall. You need color in the room. What color is the couch? Draw some colors from the wall art.
If you decide to put the couch opposite the fireplace, use a sofa table behind it. I think the tv will be too high and look off centered over the fireplace.
I think there is nothing wrong to look at the back of the couch from front door. It is acutally helping you create room within room
Hello, I think if you put the TV on the right, sofa on the left then the fireplace view isn't obstructed by the sofa, you could put some floating shelves above the fireplace. You could even make the fireplace wall a feature wall with a nice bold color!
We use the back of our couch to help make and or define the entry area.
