Living room remodel -- I tried to keep it right now to a minimalist, contemporary with a little bit of wood accents vibe.
This was our living room when we first bought the house. The paint was badly stained, the walls was pretty terrible too.
The first thing we did, was get it painted, and removed the walls separating the kitchen to the living room. And we started tearing out all the carpets.
After the carpet, it was the daunting task of removing all the carpet staples icon . There were so many staples!
Next, removing all the baseboards since we were going to replace them with new ones.
After everything is cleaned up -- we had decided to go for a white 24x24 glossy tile throughout all the rooms except for the bedroom. Our manufactured home wasn't quite leveled so we got a friend to help us level the floor.
After all areas that needs to be leveled was leveled, we screwed in cement boards.
When the cement board was all installed, the laying of the tile begins.
Progress on the flooring. Since we could only work on the weekends, this whole process took about 5-6 weekends.
When the floor was done, we cleaned up around the area of the grout and grouted the tiles.
For the look, I decided to go with a grey sectional -- we purchased the IKEA Karlstad sectional and a darker grey West Elm sofa on the back. I decided on putting floating shelves (birch IKEA Lack) on the one side of the living room so I could put my small decorations. Added a couple of IKEA wooden crates and IKEA fake potted plants (I LOVE IKEA! icon )

Replaced the ceiling fan with something we got from Home Depot. Our grey curtains also came from IKEA.
And this is what our living room looks like now! I like all the windows and the natural light coming in icon .
Here is the before and after! We did add quite a bit to the room. We changed the whole sectional and added a wood stove ^_^

I want to refinish a couple of dressers and maybe a table. After you send them and paint them or stain them what type of a finish do you put on it so it will resist water rings and or heat damage?

I just put down new carpet in three bedrooms. The master bath needs a up date but, I'm thinking about putting my house up for sale should I remodel the bath? If so I would like to remove the bathtub and up date the shower. What to do?
