Making a Custom Cork Board

I have been trying to get my office space organized and needed a cork board. But I couldn't find the size I wanted. So I made a custom sized cork board and also gave it nice colorful patterns to match my office decor.

I started out with a plywood cut to the size I wanted

I started by gluing a cork board roll to a plywood cut the size I wanted. I used spray glue adhesive.

To give it some personality and color, I decided to stencil a starburst pattern in pink and aqua to match the colors I am using in my office. I stenciled the patterns on one side of the cork board to add a little bit of whimsical touch.

The cork board looked unfinished so I added 1x2 boards around the cork board to frame it. I attached these to the 1/2" plywood using wood glue and finish nails.

The board still felt very plain so I decided to add a little color along the edges using the aqua and pink paint that I used for the stenciled patterns.

Here is the cork board up on the wall behind my DIY desk. I love how it turned out and the punch of color it adds to my office! It goes perfectly with the pink barn door storage cabinet I recently built.
