Since Fusion & Co. has allowed me to be one of the chosen for their challenge. I have decided that with the generous amount which was allotted to me, I could do three projects. I have already posted a wooden box with a nautical theme. And now for the second one. They will all come together with the chest of drawers coming next.
This framed board was a find at my favorite recycling center and it cost me the absurd some of $0.50. I have no idea what it was used for since it has a backboard that slips out and has a hole at the bottom.
I cut out an insert from the bottom of this cardboard box and looked through my material stash to cover the cutout.
I painted the frame with my lovely Lily Pond colored paint from Fusion & Co. The color reminds me of a calm sea.
I finally chose a lavender moiree material, it gives the impression of waves and it's the color of some corals.
I found these charts of nautical knots. I printed them out to use as post-its.
I glued the rope around the interior frame for my nautical look. I used off white rope. I used Gorilla wood glue.
Now these are dock cleats, I looked for them high & low for 3 days in 8 stores, in very rainy cold weather, for miles and miles. I wanted them to tie rope around, so that it would be more nautical.
Now this is the finished version and it will go on the wall at the back of the dresser. It is not hung up for this photo as I took it out on my back porch, I could not make a hole in the siding. The light was better outside. Hope you enjoyed it. I am very grateful to Fusion & Co. Collection paint Lily Pond color.

what you purchased was a calendar frame - possibly made by the lang company. in the late 80's country style decor was all the rage. lang produced many styles of calender's. for me....it was cheap artwork for a very large wall.

my grandfather was skilled in wood working. he made me 12 frames for my calender's. still haven't figured out where to use them in house no.3.

at the bottom of your picture, there are 2 areas cut back a bit- thats where the calenders slid into. the hole was possibly ment to hang it with.

love what you did to it!
