Using an old cupboard door, you can create this message center.
Using either an old or new cupboard door with multiple panels, you can create a message center.
This door had two panels so the bottom one became a chalkboard with brush on chalk paint. The top one became a cork board. I used blue painter's tape to keep the chalk paint from getting where it didn't belong.
Take a piece of foam core board and cut it to fit the opening. I adhered a sheet of 1/4" cork to the top of it (the cork came with an adhesive backing) and then attached the foam core cork section to the door using double stick tape. You could also use E6000 or similar type of adhesive as well.
I used a combination of store-bought push pins and old jewelry that was converted to be used as pins. E6000 was used to attach the jewelry pieces to the tops of existing push pins.
A few pieces of scrap wood were added for shelves. I used wood screws that went from the back of the shelves, into the edge of the shelves on the front to secure them. If you are not concerned about putting much weight on the shelves, you COULD just use wood glue but I prefer a bit more stability so I added the screws.
This vintage cup and saucer were added to hold the chalk. I attached these using double stick tape as I didn't want to make them permanent but you could use E6000 to attach if you like.
Mounted on the wall, this makes a fun way to leave notes, reminders and display photos.
