How to Up-cycle a Spagetti Box Into a Pencil Box
I love taking junk and turning it into something useful and pretty. Holding a spaghetti box in my hand one day, it came to me, "It looks like a pencil box!"
Once you cut the box properly, you can decorate the outside any way you want. I chose to decoupage one with vintage dictionary paper and some stamps, and the other I painted and stamped with my name. (Of course, I added some glitter, just for fun.)
You want to make your box about 8" long, so depending on how long your spaghetti box is, you're going to cut off about 3" or so, just from the front panel.
Cut of the raggedy bits on the ends, and then cut straight down on each corner seam, all the way to the "top" of your box.
Next you'll cut off the excess from each of the side tabs, leaving the tabs about 1 1/4" long.
Then you're going to do some scoring at different points on the box, so you can fold the top up and hold your pencils in. I give more details in my post on the blog.
After you finish scoring, your top will look like this.
Then comes the really fun part--decorating!
