Creating an Cost Effective Beverage Station in a Busy Home
I was working with a client and created a beverage station. Below are steps on how we created this space. Her goal was to make it user-friendly for her young kids and husband with no cost.
This cabinet had a lot of stuff that could be placed somewhere else. Kids could not reach the plates, so they needed to ask their parents—a time-consuming task when the kids could get their plates.
These items were pulled from other areas of the kitchen so they could be reviewed and added to the cabinet. Some were added and some were donated or trashed depending on if it was worn or chipped.
We created a beverage station storage to keep the cabinet organized and now has a purpose.
After we emptied the cabinet and the unwanted items were removed, we added tea, coffee, all the tools, mugs and moved all the beverage items(tea kettle, coffee makers, etc...) to the counter under the cabinet.

We used the right cabinet because everyone in the house was right handed. The cluttered counter was now transformed into a useable, and helpful place for people to get their coffee or tea.

It will be easier to keep the countertop clean and to catch drips and spills if everything was put on top of a tray.
Having a few mugs on hooks hanging from the bottom of the upper cabinet would eliminate having to open the cabinet door all the time just to get a mug.

While I love the ideas above, the owner did not want any additional items out exact for the coffee maker/tea. It wasn't a large area and if you added tray or even mug organizers, there would be no place for anything else.
