How To Make A Snack Station

5 Materials

I received a pancake gift basket as a holiday gift. The mix came in this cute little wooden crate. I couldn't just throw it away, and needed to figure out something to do with it. Then it came to me ... a snack station! You can see more of my crazy creations here

Here is the original wooden box the gift basket came in. It held pancake mix on one side and syrup on the other side. You can see why I wouldn't want to just throw it away.

I wanted it to go in my office and there is a lot of dark wood in there. I used Folk Art Home Decor Wood Tint in the color Walnut which I already had on hand. It's water based which is nice for easy clean up. I do wear gloves while using it. I paint on the wood tint and let it dry completely. More coats equals darker color, and if you like you can wipe off the excess.

The wood tint dries really fast. Here is the completed box.

I added the snacks I wanted into my snack box and placed it in my office. I was able to add tea, a mug, a spoon, some protein bars, and nuts.

I placed it next to a container holding water for my tea. I can fill my cup and place it on my mug warmer.

You’re lucky. Nobody buys me neat stuff in a wooden box. BUT I do but a lot of shoes and Dollar store contact paper. Can do the same with those?
