I don't know about you, but the cabinet where I stash my food storage containers was embarrassing! It was overflowing with mismatched containers and trying to find the lids was near impossible!
To organize your own food storage containers, you'll first want to completely empty your drawer or cabinet. Take absolutely everything
out so you can start fresh. Then give it a quick cleaning while it is empty.
Now it's time to organize and purge! Pair lids with their matching containers and sort like containers together. I have collected A LOT of different types of containers over the years, but this still went fairly quickly.
Get rid of excess containers. Be realistic...how many do you really need? Toss any misfit lids and containers and anything that 's broken or stained, then box up others to donate at the thrift store. I had saved some random jars and containers ov er the years, but those one-off containers didn't stack neatly with the rest of my collection. I've learned that it's better to have containers that pair well together than a hodge-podge of random ones.
Neatly organize the remaining containers in your cabinet or drawer. Stack like containers together and keep their lids next to or on top of the stack.
I ultimately decided to start fresh and bought a couple packs of brand new containers that all stack together neatly. They're also higher quality than my old ones, which doesn't seem that important but has been one of my favorite recent splurges!
Step back and admire your organized space!
