Does your pots and pans cabinet look like mine? (See photo below)

Is everything on the bottom shelf and you practically need to get on the floor to reach anything? I finally decided to give myself and this cabinet an upgrade. I ordered Pull-out cabinet drawer organizers to fit my specific space from Amazon.

My husband and I were planning to make wooden boxes and purchase just the drawer slides, when we quickly realized the cost of lumber in our area is crazy high! Purchasing heavy duty steel organizers was a much more economical solution and a DIY solution I could get accomplished in minutes...by myself!! Anyone can take on this DIY!

The BEFORE!

For this tutorial we will be adding pull out drawer organizers to the bottom shelf, but plan to also add them to the top shelf and possibly other cabinets.

I measured the opening of my cabinet, between the lower hinges and how deep my cabinet is.

Doing so, I found I had 26 inches of width between my hinges and a max depth of 22 inches.

So, I searched Amazon for organizers that would fit in my space. I ordered the Richards Homewares brand in sizes 11"x21" and 14"x21".

Everything you need comes packaged nicely together.

MATERIAL LIST:

  • Pull-out Cabinet Organizer (mine are full extension organizers by Richards Housewares)
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver if you prefer over a drill
  • Pencil
  • Tape measurer (optional-- I used one to find out how big the opening of my cabinets were so I could order the correct size organizer)
  • Drill bit 1/8"
  • Philips head screwdriver bit

After unpacking the cabinet organizers, I made sure my pots and pans would fit before installing them.

I really liked this specific brand because everything was well labeled and the instructions were clear.

First, I removed the paper from the screw hole section so I could mark them on my cabinet bottom.

I then laid out both of the organizer templates and made sure everything would fit. As you can see on the sides I cut some of the template so it would go around areas of the cabinet doors. (See righthand side)

Then I place my cabinet slides on the templates and made sure they would clear my cabinet door hinges without interference. As I was doing that, I noticed the hole in the slide bracket where I would screw down the slide, did not perfectly match the hole placement in the templates.

So, with my slides in place, I used a pencil and marked exactly where the holes were in my brackets.

As you can see they weren't that far off and I possibly could have used the marked holes from my template but I wanted to be sure my slide would open and close without any trouble.

Since I drew my own hole markings on the template, I decided to just drill a pilot hole on my mark through the template itself.

After the pilot holes are drilled, I removed the templates. It was extremely easy to take each marked slide and place them over the holes.

I then drilled the screws in using an impact driver. You could also use a screwdriver for this part.

Once all the slides have been securely screwed into the cabinet, you are ready to add the racks.

The racks for my specific organizers easily snapped into the slides.

I am very impressed with the quality and value of these racks.

The AFTER!

The full extension of these organizers is a game changer for me! I never have to get down on the floor to pull out the pot or pan I'm after!

This little DIY was an easy and affordable upgrade to my kitchen. Now I'm looking at my other cabinets wondering where I can add more.

Happy Organizing Friends!!

What did you do with the lids for the pots and pans?

How much were the pull-outs? I clicked above which took me to Amazon. I looked through the pages and did not see this brand in these sizes/style. After looking again at your directions I think I could do this! icon
