Serenia....Do you have room for a tall thin pantry that could be purchased or made?

Not really it's small ! I was thinking maybe some type of rack and move the refrigerator over and hide it right there and just leave it I don't know

Do you have a small closet you can convert into a pantry? You could add some shelves and use that for storage. You can also buy some small wire shelving/organizational units that fit inside your kitchen cabinets and double your cabinet storage. I included a picture.

Hi ! I used a small 3 foot section of a wall to put up a wall pantry . I put up 5 shelves and store all my dry goods in mason jars and canisters . That leaves the little cabinet space to store cans and other items . I posted a tutorial on this site call wall pantry storage solution .

It sounds like you need to find space in another room for a shelving unit. You could use a unit with doors in any room. I have stored canned goods etc. in an attached garage once and in the basement another time.

Otherwise you can arrange the existing things in your cupboards so that you can add more shelves. For example, a stack of plates is probably only about 5"- 6" high You might be able to add another shelf above the plates.

Serena: I actually use a small bar, with doors, in a adjoining room -- for my canned goods.

“go vertical”. I would buy a pantry cabinet, or make one, out of a bookshelf and hang a bamboo curtain or other curtain over it.

You can put a shelf above a door or window and put food in baskets on the shelf.

I store a lot of things in the fridge, such as flour, beans, cornmeal, pasta, salt, and sugar. I have them in taller skinny jars to utilize the space in the fridge.

I also have 2 old wall mailboxes hung on the wall to store my teabags and coffee in and the hooks off the bottom of the mailboxes hold my rolling pin, dish towel, and attachments to my kitchenaid mixer.

Also, you could put magnets on your spices and stick them to the fridge to free up that little cabinet for other foods.

  • I would make as best use possible of vertical surfaces with shelving, racks, or related type storage options. You could also make use of your ceiling with hanging storage. Small spaces are all about creativity — think outside the box. A Google image search of small kitchens/kitchen storage should help with ideas too.

    HI SERENIA,

Use Plastic Storage Box or Boxes for Savory and Sweet foods. Label and stack if required.
