If you don't use them often, I would store them high or low. It seems you have many, store them in each other, or in a box in the top or bottom of the pantry or kitchen closet.
Since I have a small kitchen, I have less frequently items stored elsewhere. I use paper towels between the items to prevent chipping. Since I live in earthquake country, anything breakable is stored low. Less chance of damage. Maybe time to reorganize the kitchen to make better use of space?
