Everything has a logical, common sense home. You would not store canned goods in the cabinet above the dishwasher where it is a "natural" place to store plates, cups and glasses. Believe me I have seen worse . . .
Just go through your cupboards and see what can be improved. Maybe pull out the serving platters and bowls that are not used daily, store elsewhere or in bottom cabinets.
Hi Rena
have you heard of this book?
Hi Rena - This is a great article on kitchen organization - to use your prepositions. Hope it helps with a little inspiration. Good luck! Hugs, Holly

First, go through everything and determine the last time you used an item! Get rid of single-purpose tools that can be replaced by a simple spoon or knife. Make sure every container has a lid, and get rid of the rest. Put like things together.
If you have duplicates (serving bowls, platters, etc.) keep the ones that are the most practical and get rid of the rest, especially odd-shapes that don't stack well.
The smallest kitchen can actually hold everything that the average cook needs to prepare and serve meals.
