I have one cupboard that contains nothing but canned goods. I put the most used things on the lowest shelf. I stack the most used veggies in stacks of two, e.g. corn on top of green beans. I have one row just for hubbies chunky soups that he likes to eat for lunch. The top shelf, I need a stool to reach that one, has the things I don't use very often. The middle one is used for my things like alfredo sauce jars, condensed soups, a couple of vegetables we use very seldom (hubby loves spinach, the rest of us don't), chili, things like that. I always keep like things together, all canned fruit and pie filling are on one side, etc. This keeps it very easy to keep track of inventory, esp. the vegetables that we use very frequently. I am lucky to have a storeroom/workroom in the basement with lots of built-in shelves and cupboards and two workbenches, so I keep my extra canned goods and pasta in tight fitting containers) down there since we stock up for the month in the beginning of the month.
Hi Dianne. I'm Cindy. I recommend using wooden blocks to create "stairs" inside of your cupboards. You only need two blocks in each section of the cupboard. The tallest block will go in the back of your cupboard. You can put cans on it so that it is tall and easy to see. Put the last block in front of the first one. This block will not be as tall as the first one. Put more cans on this middle block. And lastly just use the floor of your cupboard to store more canned foods. I hope this helps you. Good luck Dianne and Happy Holidays.
Oh WOW....thank you so much Cindy.....I will try this one tomorrow!
I like Cindy's idea. I've been using a double decker lazy susan. I have been looking for something similar to a spice rack organizer but for cans. I think Cindy nailed it!
