Oh, lots of things. I like fake green plants intermingled with items like colorful bottles, framed artwork, maybe a clock, a rooster statue, a basket or collection of baskets. The sky's the limit. Ask yourself, What do I love and go from there. Have fun and make it yours.

This can become a display area for pottery, baskets, glassware, serving trays, plates, or other objects you collect. You can arrange silk foliage with fairy lights. Or use it to store extra baking pans and large pots. If you have some money and the kitchen is on an outside wall, you can install glass block or windows for natural lighting.

I put baskets, silk flowers , decorative pitchers, and sentimental items on mine. If you have a theme in your kitchen, put items that compliment your theme up there. Favorite items that you don't use often would be another choice. Have fun!

Hi Loretta, The home I have now has cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling, but before this I lived in a house with that AWWWkward space, in an "L" shape above the cabinets. One side collected dust on faux foilage, and the other side collected dust on everything shoved up there that I didn't know what to do with because closet storage was nonexistent. Some designer's now say do NOT put fake plants up there but other's say it's just fine as long as they truly look real and you keep them clean. I did see one picture where there was the narrowest space between cabinet top and ceiling that I've ever seen and it was done so cute with a string of lights (nice night lights). Anyway, here are two websites that have some cute ideas. Hope you see something you like and might want to use:
