Rustic Coffee Mug Holder

I wanted to have my mugs handy over the coffee bar in the dining room and I like to recycle and repurpose so I created this simple board from materials on hand=NO MONEY.
Hardwood branches & fence staples.
Collect some hardwood branches with nearly 90 degree branching. I used Yaupon Holly-very hard and very plentiful in north Florida. Marking with chalk because it rubs right off, use pruners or saber saw to cut some sections to create the mug hooks. The main part of the hook should be about as thick as a finger and the "hook" should be about as thick as a pencil.
Twig hooks fastened to painted board.
Prepare a board or keep it natural. My board is 11" x 36" and I've painted the board, sanded some to distress and quickly brushed on and off with a walnut stain. The staples are hammered in to hold the twig hooks. Add as many or few as you like but of course make sure they are about a mug's width apart.
Add as many twig hooks as you like.
I left room at the top to add the chalkboard paint after fastening ten twig hooks. Some twigs have multiple branching for added interest and one could hang a pot holder or tea ball from the added twigs.
Painter's tape makes a crisp line.
Adding painter's tape to insure a neat edge, I use chalkboard paint at the top and do several coats. I oriented my board vertically but one could orient the board horizontally and add a chalk board at one end. I like the weight of the mugs to be at the bottom for balance.

Here is the finished piece with mugs though one could hang keys, potholders and a tea ball with chain as well. I plan to install into the studs over the coffee bar when we move into our new house to make it the most stable because of the weight of the mugs and the action of pulling them off.
