I know! You probably wonder how any makeover could be done for less than $70? Let me tell you one secret - paint and a bit of thinking outside of the box. This budget-friendly pantry makeover was so long overdue. Yes, we all remember images of "before" 😁 not so pleasant.

The very sad "before"

Step 1. Clean up

I first started by clearing out everything.

When I finished clearing out the space I gave the whole closet a wipe with a wet cloth, paying special attention to the wall in the back that I was going to wallpaper.

Step 2. Remove shelves

I removed one of the shelf brackets since it was broken.

Step 3. Wallpaper

Wallpaper the back wall.

Step 4. Painting sides

When I finished with wallpaper I chose to paint the sides of the closet with this beautiful color by Behr. I simply used a brush and a sample since that was more than enough for both sides. I probably finished half of the sample can.

Step 5. Making shelves

I wrote a very detailed blog about how to make faux floating shelves. So I won't repeat myself, you can find it on my blog 🙂

Basically, I ripped the plywood sheet and attached it to the existing shelf. Then I added trim on the front to make an illusion of a thick shelf but saving on the cost of thick wood.

Step 6. Add pack lights

These puck lights are so fun!

Brilliant!

Here is a beautiful after!
