When you have a family, no matter how much you organize, it comes undone. Time for a curtain!
I had to measure for the height and width I wanted the curtain to be. I decided to use burlap to match our home decor.
Before!
I installed the hooks first, just my preference. Some people put the hooks up after the panel is made.
The hardware store didn’t have dowel rods long enough so I bought 2 and used a dowel screw to connect the 2 and then sawed it to the length I needed. I drilled holes in the ends before inserting the dowel screw.
The 2 dowels screwed together. Wood fill could be used to fill in the crack but I painted my rod with brown craft paint so I was able to cover it up and it hangs pretty high so its not noticeable.
I downloaded a western style font and printed out the letters to the size I desired.
My words copied and cut out on wax paper. I dry ironed the paper to the burlap, shiny side down.
Fabric paint that I sponged on to transfer the letters onto the burlap.
I peeled the wax paper off after the paint dried. I decided this looked a bit plain so I looked up a western border I liked and transfered it in the same way I did the letters.
After, I put the curtain up, I super glued the teal glass knobs on the end of the rod. The only thing I would change: I would use different hooks. The set I purchased puts the curtain out about 2 inches from the wall but its not so bad that I can’t handle it. Way better than the way it was!
After!
