I’m considered by family and friends the moving guru. So grab a spiral notebook and a pen and a large marks a lot boxes packing tape and packing material. Since things will have to go into storage I think you’ll find this system works beautifully.

    1) Begin packing the “essentials” boxes first. These are the ones that go with you in the car, not with the movers. You’ll need perhaps 4. Master bd: pillows, bed linens, pajamas, and a couple changes of clothedit. Bathroom: TP, towels, wash cloths, toiletries. Kitchen: 1 pasta pot, sauce pan, fry pan, paper plates, plastic cups and silverware, coffee maker (my one essential), a cooler with creamer, eggs, butter, milk, and sandwich condiments, salt, and pepper. Finally, your Cleaning supplies: DW soap, scrubby, glass and all purpose cleaner, paper towels, fit cloths, broom and vacuu.

Begin with the room least used, or the non-essential items. Label First Page in Spiral and then each box , ie; Guest Bdrm - 1 (GBdrm-1 on upper right corner of each of the 4 sides of the box). This way, no matter how they’re stacked you can see and refer to your spiral list! Next as you pack, old in the spiral by box number. It doesn’t have to be absolutely thorough, but trust me, if you need something that is in storage this will save you so much time and frustration!!! Do one room at a time, leaving the kitchen to last.

Good luck!! BTW, I still have boxes moved 4 times with “keepsakes” that have been barely needed, but I know exactly what is in them because I have my spiral! (No, I’m not a hoarder, lol)

You have to start in one corner of one room and just start packing. You've already waited to long, so don't delay anymore. Make sure that you have plenty of packing supplies on hand. If you get to much, you can always return any unopened supplies. Containers, lots of bubble wrap for delicates, lots of newspaper and even plastic bags from the store for padding, packing tape and markers to write on everything. It's a big job, but you can do it. Now get started.

Wrap in news paper or bubble wrapping, store in large plastic containers, then put masking tape on the lid and name what you have in each containers.

I also use masking tape and write what is in the plastic container, but I put the same info on the long and short side, when stacked you can't see the top, easier to read the side. Blankets, throws, are good for packing valuables/breakables. Happy moving!

GET FREE BOXES AT PET FOOD STORES OR SIMILAR. NOT TOO LARGE.

INK MARKERS, TAPE AND BUBBLE WRAP IS LOW COST AT DOLLAR STORES.

BUY EXTRA. USE TOILET TISSUE, PILLOWS, PAPER TOWELS FOR PROTECTION.

DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU START IF YOU USE NUMBERS AND LETTERS.

FOR STORAGE, USE ONLY SEQUENTIAL NUMBERS. NUMBER BOXES / CONTAINERS ON TOP AND SIDES. eg. 21,22, AND RECORD CONTENTS ON A MASTER LIST ONLY. IT IS A PAIN PRINTING CONTENTS ON BOXES. USE ONLY LETTERS FOR NON STORAGE BOXES eg. K, BATH, BED#1, BED#2, LV, AND KEEP CONTENTS ON ANOTHER MASTER LIST. FOR SOME ITEMS YOU CAN USE TAGS IF APPROPRIATE eg. FLOOR LAMPS. [ just do it ;-)) ]
