I would use large plastic bins. They are good to store them in once you move too.

Whatever method you decide upon, be sure to take clear, in focus, close-up pictures of all the Lego creations before they are packed up. That way, in the event that some pieces come disengaged during the move, you will be able to reconstruct them more easily.

Good question. You might wish to carefully pack in wrap foam like you would with fine china. (Could aerosol spray foam be used if item bagged? Thinking aloud. You might consider moving yourself in a hand constructed styrofoam ( sheet insulation) box.

My biggest tip is ORGANIZING IS NOT DECLUTTERING. I made this mistake for way too long and couldn’t figure out why I still had so much stuff and so much stress. Decluttering means things have to leave your space, not find new and better places to be stored. We just downsized from 4,000sqft to 2,000 and now we’re moving into a camper. I’ve decluttering a few things. 😉

Read all my decluttering tips here.

Also, just get started. It might seem overwhelming at first, but you’ll pick up steam as you go. You got this! 👍🏼

  • You could use that hair dryer shrink wrap to seal them in place and then wrap them in a box with a bubble wrap. The shrink wrap just cuts away when you unpack them.

My daughter just moved about a zillion sets of Legos. She put each set into a plastic organizer and labeled each set. They can be put away and taken out a few at a time for sanity sake :)

The best option is to reinforce the structures, or ask your relocation company how best to do this. I used the website https://crosscountrymoversllc.com/service/moving-services/ and they gave me good advice on all the fragile things

Pack them into boxes and fill the boxes around the assembled sets with styrofoam peanuts.

I would try wrapping them very carefully in plastic wrap. If any pieces break off at least the will be all wrapped together. I'd put the wrapped project into a box with bubble wrap next.

It will be easier to take the whole set apart and put it in a box. If you want to keep the figures you have built, ask for help from a professional. When we moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn, we carried clothes, furniture, and dishes. I was confident that we would damage any of those things and suggested that my husband book the services of a moving company. It seemed to me to be the best solution in this situation. The moving company is responsible for the safety of your belongings and guarantees a perfect move. While moving from one part of New York City to another, we decided to redo the layout of the apartment and arrange all the furniture differently. The moving company provided such additional service. You might try wrapping saran wrap around them so they don't fall apart. If something breaks off it will be wrapped in the saran.

It depends on the size of the lego unit built. What are the dimensions?

The best way is to have the right box, as well as seals that will keep everything tight to the box and won't move inside. In fact, now a moving company like https://goodmoversusa.com/ or a similar local contractor can help with all this. They have experience in packing everything

    Remove delicate elements.

    Wrap your set.

    Secure the loose parts.

Place the Lego set in a cardboard box.

Fill the box with protective packaging.

    Seal the box securely.

    Label the box.

    Put it in the bag

  • Wrap them in packing plastic and then pack in boxes or totes with crumpled newspaper as filler.

Choose boxes that are just a bit larger than the assembled piece, then use shrink wrap and a hair dryer so the shrink wrap melds into the shape of the assembled Lego piece. The suggestion of aking close-up pics before the move is another great suggestion.....just in case the piece gets slightly dis-assembled in the move. You could likely pack soft items such as packages of cotton balls, wash cloths, etc. into the empty space around the assembled Lego piece.

Get some of the large bubble wrap bags. Then close with packing tape. That's for any structures assembled. As for unassembled, pick up some containers at the dollar tree and then use packing tape to make sure they don't come open in transit.

When my family and I moved from Canada to the USA, I faced the challenge of how to safely pack my carefully assembled LEGO sets, particularly those with intricate figures. To ensure their preservation during the move, I decided to seek assistance from a professional moving company. The movers were experienced in handling delicate items like LEGO sets, and they methodically disassembled the sets, documenting the process with photographs to aid in reassembly. They also used protective materials like bubble wrap and containers to secure each piece during transit. This cautious approach ensured that my LEGO sets and figures arrived at our new home in the USA undamaged.
