Look up, look down, look all around when you are looking for storage in your house! We have a very small back hall, so storage for winter boots is used up with only two pair! In summer I can fit 6 pr of clogs in same space as 2 pair winter boots.
This is entrance to our house.
This is entire size of floor in back hall. Entrance to a toilet.
But there are some boots that can be worn all year and these are what we had no room for. . . and we did have this unused space!
My husband cut the dowel into 6 segments, used entire length. He then drilled holes in the wooden length with his drill press and glued and screwed each dowel into place.
Husband installed dowel rack and boots were put in place!
Suggested materials:
  • A fluted dowel post 48" long   (we had this at home)
  • A piece of wood 2" X 1" about 45" long   (we had this at home)
