My favorite things to craft with is paint , cloth and decoupage. Probably because they are all realitively cheap and I always have them on hand. I dont feel too bad if it didnt turn out like I envisioned it would. I'm not out alot of cash. So this project was a no brainer. I had everything I needed.
I've been concidering painting an old suite case that I have. I started looking over all my craft supplies and decided on my project.
I gathered my supplies. The only things I bought was a new paint brush for the decoupage and Rick Rack.
I wiped down my suitcase with a damp rag and mild soap.
I then pressed a piece of beautiful bird material left over from a previous project.
I then painted my case with my free paint from Hometalk. I won it on a paint challenge. I let it dry over night.
I then cut my fabric as close to size as I could. I didn't have a big enough piece of paper to make a template. I just trimmed the extra off once the decoupage was dry. I placed the fabric where I wanted it. Then I started applying the decoupage on to the case with a paint brush.
Make sure you put several coats on top of the fabric also. I added rick rack trim to hide my uneven trimming.
I then let it completely dry. I sprayed it with several coats of clear acrylic coating. I let it sit out side to air out. The odor is strong. I recommend wearing a mask. My project is finished.
