I saw this project floating around on the internet, and I really wanted to make one for myself. I love how you can use a lazy Susan in your fridge for condiments, on your table for serving dishes, or even as a spice rack. Also, making a lazy Susan out of old pie plates and marbles makes it a pretty little work of art. I also like that this lazy Susan looks fancy enough to put on the dinner table, without having to find any specific hardware.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
This is my mess of condiments in the fridge
I used two glass pie plates and 5 little packs of marbles.
You can see that I have a bunch of condiments in my fridge. I have to admit, I like lots of condiment choices (my favorite is hot sauce), so I might need a few of these lazy Susans.

Step 2: Set Down Your First Pie Plate
Place your pie plate face up on some sort of surface.

Step 3: Add the Marbles to Your First Plate
I dumped all my marbles into the pie plate. Be careful, because they bounce.

Step 4: Put the Second Pie Plate on Top of the Marbles
Place the second pie plate on top. You now have a lazy Susan that swivels and swirls. I use it to hold condiments in the fridge, but it also makes a pretty serving tray.

To cut down on the added height with marbles, wouldn't the small ball bearings or maybe even BB's work?

How did you come to the figure of $6 for the cost of this project? Looks like glass pie plates cost at least $5 a piece on your link and the set of marbles costs $9.99.

What a great idea. Yes you can also buy lazy Susan base at Home Depot for $20 (and probably I’m underestimating) but it’s ugly and still need a platform of sorts to store stuff on. The pie plate (or similar) has sides to keep things in place when in use because we all know life happens. Thanks for sharing
